Holly is working to Raise The Cure...

Holly is 15 years old and already she's had twenty-seven brain and spinal surgeries. Despite all this, Holly lives with severe, daily headaches that never go away. Her legs hurt when she walks or stands for for more than just a few minutes.

What do you do when doctors have run out of treatment options for you? If you're Holly, you get to work raising money for a cure. Holly started fundraising at age 11. Together with her family and friends she hosts an annual fundraiser and raffle in her community each year.  She set a goal: raise $20,000 before graduating high school.  In August of 2009, she reached her goal. After reaching her initial fundraising goal, Holly has decided it's not enough. She'd like to double that total!

I Wonder...

By Holly Patterson

I wonder if there will ever be a cure.
I hear children laughing
I see no more pain-
I want to find a cure.

I pretend I’m fine
But I feel me and others hurting
I touch the hearts of others.
I worry about another surgery
I cry when I can’t help.

I say “Help Holly”
I dream we can do it!
I try to be the one
I hope you will help me-
Come on everyone!
